The 1st Southeast Asia Public Health Nutrition (SEA-PHN) Conference organised in conjunction with NSM 32nd Annual Scientific Conference
14 – 17 May of 2017, Hotel Istana Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The 1st SEA-PHN Conference with the theme ‘Together in Advancing Public Health Nutrition’ brought together diverse stakeholders to share and discuss the latest scientific knowledge, experiences, effective intervention policies, strategies, research programmes and regulatory updates to promote and sustain public health nutrition in the SEA region
There was a good mixture of scientific sessions, including 1 keynote address, 5 plenary lectures by distinguished senior/pioneer nutritionists in Southeast Asia, 11 symposia sessions by various key opinion leaders in their respective fields of food and nutrition, 8 lunch symposia by corporate partners with valuable learnings from scientific work in the corporate sector and academic institutions around the world, 3 round table discussions covering topics that are of common interests and concerns in the regions.
Besides that, there was the exciting competition for the Young Researchers’ Awards (oral & poster) and 24 Free Paper Presentations as well as more than 200 posters displayed, covering the whole of topics centered around the theme of the conference, in the area of promoting public health nutrition. The conference had 477 attendees from 23 countries and 54 speakers from 17 countries. 2/3 these speakers were from outside Malaysia.
